This
course is a continuation of elementary Biblical Hebrew II with
emphasis on Hebrew grammar and necessary vocabulary and morphology
in preparation for translation of biblical prose.
Selected readings in the Hebrew Bible with stress on
increasing text complexity
Prerequisite:
Elementary Biblical Hebrew II or
equivalent.
COURSE
OBJECTIVES:
Successful
students will be able to:
(1)
READ
and comprehend longer and more complex
biblical passages,
(2)
reproduce
material in WRITING, from twenty to forty lines, about selected
subjects chosen from classical Hebrew,
(3)
develop
their LISTENING skills by comprehending reading from the course material,
(4) use and analyze GRAMMATICAL COMPONENTS of
the assigned material, and be
familiar with Hebrew verbs, syntax structure

NOTE:
Students are expected to attend all classes and will be
held responsible for the information they contain. Make-up
quizzes and exams are generally given only in the event that the student has a written excuse
for missing the class from a physician or the
Dean’s office. Students
are required to come prepared
for each class session. Preparation
may include
reading, writing or oral homework assignments
from the text or handouts as
well as language laboratory assignments. Late homework
will be penalized.
