I completed my undergraduate degree at a large public university, where students rarely acknowledged one another, and each student was a number among many. When I first heard my calling to the ministry, I was terrified that seminary education would be the same way. Instead, what I found at Hartford Seminary was a warm and passionate institution dedicated to growing together in faith. Here at Hartford Seminary, students hold open doors for one another, chat in the hallways and even hug fellow classmates after a particularly long day. Walking into Hartford Seminary is like a breath of fresh air; it is an oasis in the chaos of everyday life. Hartford Seminary is a place where students and faculty of all nationalities, denominations and faith traditions, grow and learn together to not only deepen our own faiths but expand our understanding of one another’s.
