Craig Nowak
Cooperative Master of Divinity Program

The decision to attend Hartford Seminary was a logical choice for me. The seminary has a sterling reputation as a progressive institution devoted to religious pluralism, a concept I personally embrace and believe is vital to peaceful co-existence in an increasingly small world.

By offering programs of study in both Christianity and Islam, while also offering a curriculum that addresses and examines the unique experiences of various minority populations including women, African-Americans, Hispanics, and gays and lesbians, it is a place where social, cultural, and theological differences can be discussed openly and respectfully. Such a commitment to diversity helps create an atmosphere that encourages meaningful dialogue.

Working to remove that divisive sense of the “other” so many of us learn growing up, the seminary is helping students build bridges where some might otherwise build walls.
