Why
am I still at Hartford Seminary when 23 years ago I said it was only
for a little while? Because this is where God wants me to be, where my
multiple ministries intersect, where I continue to grow in wisdom
together with my students, colleagues, and friends. Where in a world
that is growing more xenophobic every day can one give flesh to a
vision of deep innerconnectedness with all life on this planet?
Here
at Hartford Seminary I am free to explore and expound upon mystical
experience and prophetic action, free to cross boundaries that no
longer divide and to enter into relationship with those whose cultural
and religious traditions differ from my own, free to speak about
spirituality as manifestation of the Divine presence with us and
within us. Seeds sown here in times such as these will contribute to
emerging global initiatives for justice and peace, caring and
compassion in future generations.
