Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins
Hartford Seminary invites applications for a faculty position in New Testament and Christian Origins that begins in fall 2012. The candidate should have expertise in any area of New Testament study, showing the ability to interpret early Christian literature in its historical and cultural contexts, with attention to and appreciation of its contemporary significance. The successful candidate must be able to teach broad areas of New Testament study at an introductory level, and at the same time display intellectual depth to direct doctoral level students and participate meaningfully from a Christian perspective in the seminary’s multifaith work. These capacities for breadth and depth in New Testament study directly support core programs of the school and its enduring commitments to dialogue, research, and involvement with Christian churches. Rank is at the Assistant or Associate level; Ph.D. or Th.D. is required. We especially encourage applications from women and historically underrepresented ethnic groups.
Review of applications will begin on 17 January 2012 and will continue until the position is filled. A complete application must be submitted electronically to Ms. Lorraine Browne at lbrowne@hartsem.edu and includes a letter of application, a current curriculum vitae, and three letters of reference submitted directly by the recommenders. For further information, please contact Prof. Uriah Kim, Chair of the Search Committee, at ukim@hartsem.edu.
