Join the Rev. Donna Schaper for this valuable workshop.
According to the Rev. Schaper, “real estate is the largest asset and most expensive deficit that most congregations have. We are ‘overbuilt’ and many of us have become dowdy, looking like we belong to the last century more than to this one. This workshop gives a point of view on treasure in earthen vessels, how to opportunize the asset and minimize the deficit. A theology and appreciation of place will join practical suggestions about tenants, parking lots, multiple uses, whether and how to go green and whether and when to sell buildings on behalf of long term ministries. Attention will be given to the ‘dedowdyization’ of sacred space as well. Think Interior decoration of body and soul with a sense of inhabiting our place and space.”
The Rev. Dr. Donna Schaper, formerly at Coral Gables Congregational Church in Miami and before that at Yale University, is Senior Minister for Judson Memorial Church on the corner of Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village, New York City. She began this post in 2005, will be ordained 40 years in 2014.
