There are numerous stories of women in the Christian Scriptures – in both the First and Second Testaments – who play an integral part in the story of faith and of God’s dream for creation and humankind. These are women of courage and determination, commitment and faith who use their gifts to create new possibilities for themselves and the world around them. We will explore some of the women’s stories through the use of prayer, drama, conversation and creative expression. Whether you have previously studied biblical women or this will be your first encounter, come and join us to discover how ancient stories can speak anew.

The Rev. Donna K. Manocchio serves as the Associate Minister at Rocky Hill Congregational Church, United Church of Christ. A certified spiritual director, she also is an adjunct faculty member at Hartford Seminary in liturgy and interfaith studies. She previously served as the Associate Director of the Women’s Leadership Institute at the Seminary and she and Janet Bristow have presented numerous times together in a variety of settings.
Janet Bristow is a graduate of the first Women’s Leadership Institute at Hartford Seminary and is a 2009 recipient of its Distinguished Alumna Award. Co-founder of The Prayer Shawl Ministry and co-author of “The Prayer Shawl Companion,” she is a parishioner of St. Patrick & St. Anthony Church in Hartford where she coordinates the Prayer Shawl Ministry and is a member of the Women of Hope Ministry and the Pastoral Council.
