Ian Markham Delivered Teape Lectures in India

Dr. Ian Markham, the Dean of Hartford Seminary and Professor of Theology and Ethics, delivered the prestigious Teape Lectures in India in early December. The Teape Lectures are an endowed set of lectures, organized by the University of Cambridge. Previous holders of the Teape Lectures include John Hick, Keith Ward, and Owen Chadwick. The endowment requires a set of three lectures to be delivered in at least two venues in India. Dr. Markham delivered his lectures at St. Stephen's College, in Delhi, and Bishop's College in Calcutta.

The theme of the lectures was 'Dialogue Done Differently'. Dr. Markham argued that western models of dialogue tend to reflect western post-Enlightenment assumptions, while dialogue models emerging from India are completely different.
