While in Kuala Lumpur, Hartford Seminary visitors had the opportunity to have dinner with General Secretary of the World Council of Churches of Malaysia, the Rev. Dr. Hermen Shastri, who generously spend an evening engaged in dialogue.
The group also met with the Mufti State of Federal Territory, Kuala Lumpur. Mufti Wilayah Persekutuam was very open to discuss his role as a Muslim legal expert who is empowered to give rulings on religious matters. His hospitality and kindness was appreciated.
The last visit in Malaysia was to the Ministry of Higher Education in Putrajaya where the group met with the Principal Assistant Director for the Education Malaysia Division, Nor Hayati Daud. The cohort discussed possibilities for scholarship and exchange programs for students from Malaysia who may want to come to Hartford Seminary.
Hartford Seminary is thankful to all the new connections and friends that were made in Malaysia.
