International Peacemaking Fellows Tour New York City

The 2017-18 cohort of International Peacemaking Program (IPP) Fellows wrapped up the yearlong scholarship program with a trip to New York City.

The eight students — who hail from India, South Africa, Lebanon, Haiti, Greece and the United States — started the day with a tour of the “Good Morning America” studios in Time Square. The father of a previous IPP fellow, Eddie Luisi, is a stage manager for the show and gave the group a backstage tour.

The IPP Fellows then walked to the United Nations where they were given a private tour and had the opportunity to discuss the U.N. and its approach to peacemaking with Peter Smith of the Office of Counter-Terrorism and Megan Schmidt, Quaker UN Representative. After the U.N. tour, the Fellows visited the Interfaith Chapel at the Church Center for the United Nations.

The International Peacemaking Program is still recruiting students for next year. Visit this link to learn more.
