As a supplement to courses offered at Hartford Seminary, the Imam Ali Chair has sponsored a series of lectures at Hartford Seminary on a variety of topics. They can be viewed below.

Nov. 12, 2016: “The Sahifa of Imam Reza as a Centerpiece of Confessional Ambiguity” with Dr. Jonathan AC Brown of Georgetown University.

April 28, 2016: “The Formative Period of Shi’i Thought” with Mohammad Sagha, a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Chicago and Professor Tehseen Thaver, Assistant Professor of Religion at Bard College

March 22, 2016: “Fiqh for Minorities: Shi’i Law in the Diaspora” with Professor Liyakat Takin of McMaster University

 

May 3, 2016: “Is My Kind Uncle Doomed? Debates on the Salvation of Abu Talib” with Professor Nebil A. Husayn, assistant instructor in the Near Eastern Studies Department at Princeton University and assistant professor of religion at the University of Miami
