The Art of Extravagant Love: The Anointing Women in the New Testament

Each of the four gospels depicts a woman who anoints Jesus with costly oil sometime during the course of his ministry. Although the stories are each slightly different, they contain some common elements: gratitude, grace, and love. Their actions upset the other disciples, and yet the women stay true to their calling. We will explore some of the images of these women painted over the centuries, and discover ways their stories intersect with ours. Prayer, conversation and creative expression will shape our morning together.
